Sherwin finally collects his first pet called a Sandstorm Foxhound. I can collect a maximum of three pets. Pets can be leveled up. They can also be released if no longer required. There's various other options available in your Pet window. My current pet has an Attack Slot. I need to acquire a Pet Skill if I want to add a Skill for my pet. I can probably do this later. Depending on what level your character is will determine how many Coins they can carry. Doesn't really matter much at low level since I haven't even picked up any Coins yet. I may be able to sell the junk I pick up for some profit to an NPC shop.
